Nick Davis

EXECUTIVE PROFILE

A technical leader who has spent his career close to the work.

I came up through support, systems administration, networking, and production operations. That background still shapes how I lead.

I have worked in technology media, consulting, healthcare software, and global SaaS. I have managed datacenters, Linux and Unix systems, cloud platforms, Kubernetes, Elasticsearch, CI/CD, observability, identity, and the teams responsible for keeping all of it running.

At Syndigo, I led platform engineering and reliability across a large multi-cloud environment. The job was part architecture, part operations, part finance, and a lot of people work. We modernized platforms, reduced cloud spend, consolidated acquired systems, improved delivery, and built a distributed team that stayed together for more than eleven years.

I am comfortable in an executive meeting, but I do not lead from a slide deck. I ask questions, get close to the facts, and work with the people who know the system best. Then I help the organization make a decision and follow it through.

WHAT YOU GET

I can get into the architecture when the situation calls for it.

I also know when the team needs room to solve it.

I do not make a hard situation louder.

I share context and expect people to use it.

I stay with the work after the meeting ends.

HOW I LEAD

Tell people why

People make better decisions when they understand the goals, limits, and the stakes.

Keep ownership clear

Ambiguous ownership creates more incidents than most technology choices do.

Learn from failure

After an incident, fix the conditions that made it possible. Blame is not a control.

Grow people

The team should become more capable and less dependent on me over time.

SELECTED WORK

A few examples that show my range of the work.

Reduced scale from 99 nodes to 30

Redesigned a large Elasticsearch platform, improving stability and performance while cutting the footprint by seventy percent.

15+ platforms consolidated

Brought acquired and legacy systems into a more consistent operating model with clearer ownership and fewer one-off tools.

Infrastructure became a product

Worked with Product and Finance to turn enterprise SSO from an internal capability into a monitized customer offering.

Healthcare systems stayed available

Ran production infrastructure serving 20,000+ behavioral-health professionals, including during the 2010 Nashville flood.

WHAT I AM LOOKING FOR

A Director, Senior Director, AVP, or VP role where platform engineering, infrastructure, SRE, application services, or cloud operations are central to the business. I work best where the problems are real and the company wants a leader who can set direction without losing touch with the details.
